SCAIM273

7″ 2-way In-Ceiling Speaker w/ Aluminum Woofer, Dual Aluminum ARC Tweeter Array

The SpeakerCraft AIM 7 DT THREE Series 2 speaker has a 15 degree pivoting 7” dual voice coil aluminum cone woofer, 15 degree pivoting & 359 degree rotational ARC tweeter array incorporating (3) – 5/8” aluminum dome.

Designed to get the best from the latest home cinema formats

With ceiling speakers being asked to perform to much higher standards, the quality of design and engineering is more critical than ever. Object-based surround sound formats, such as Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Auro 3D demand the utmost precision and this is exactly where the SpeakerCraft AIM 7 TWO Series 2 excels.

Aim the sound precisely where you need it

What marks these ceiling speakers out is their huge range of adjustability. Both the main woofer and tweeter array feature +/-15 degrees of pivot. Added to this, the tweeter array rotates by nearly 360 degrees – giving you unprecedented levels of sound directionality adjustment.

Powerful and precise bass

Featuring a 7 inch, aluminium bass cone, the AIM273 delivers a deeper, richer sound than the smaller 253 model. This makes it ideal for larger rooms, higher volumes or just for when you want to hear more of the music’s lower range.

Quad tweeter array for enhanced clarity

Rather than using just one tweeter, the AIM 273 incorporates four. Four tweeter units build up the intensity of high frequencies, which is especially important in a ceiling speaker as the top-end can often sound ‘lost’.

All-aluminium speaker array for enhanced detail and power handling

The AIM 273 builds on the 272 model by offering an all-aluminium speaker array. Aluminium is both light and rigid, making it fast to respond to a signal. It’s this speed that makes it possible to hear even the slightest changes in musical detail. A further benefit is the 25 watts increase in power handling (up to 150 watts), without the need for a larger unit.

Focused sound through WavePlane and Vortex Eliminators

Working together with the tweeter array, WavePlane technology acts as an acoustic lens. The powerful high-end response is focused across a broader area than usual, giving a wider spread of full-range sound. Vortex Eliminators reduce the ‘tunnel effect’ of traditional ceiling speakers meaning everyone in the room gets to hear all the detail.

Adjustable treble

Depending on your room’s acoustics and personal taste, you can boost or reduce the treble response by +/- 3dB. If, for example the room has a hard floor and is sparsely furnished, a drop in treble output may be desirable. The counter is often true for heavily furnished rooms with thick carpets and curtains.

Part of a family

As part of the THREE level speaker range, the AIM273 is sonically matched to the rest of the speakers in the range. This means you can use different models in other rooms, or even the same room, without there being a change in key sound characteristics.

Get a crisper, more detailed sound from your ceiling speakers, with the SpeakerCraft AIM273.

  • Uniform, aim-able high-frequency coverage.
  • Lower crossover point through increased number of drivers gives increased sound pressure level at the critical mid-range frequencies resulting in a sweeter sweet spot.
  • Smoother power response, higher power handling capability and less distortion than a single tweeter design.
  • New speaker housing design allows for a +/-15 degree pivoting woofer, totaling 30 degrees of adjustment, plus Arc-Tweeter Array with +/- 15 degree toe-in/toe-out adjustment, and 359 degrees of rotational flexibility.
  • Co-molded, lower density compounds minimize structural resonance in the surrounding wall/ceiling.
  • Updated WavePlane design enhances high frequency dispersion.
  • Acoustic Vortex Eliminators reduce sound turbulence.
  • Increased stiffness of the curvilinear cone design enables the cone to deliver energy to the air more effectively for greater bass response.
  • Butyl elastomer surround creates a more consistent sound with less disruption.
  • Non-conductive Kapton formers, copper caps and extended poles reduce distortion.
  • Improved power handling and sensitivity limits compression for louder and cleaner sound.
  • Symmetrical & A-symmetrical Linkwitz-Riley crossover designs for highest sound quality.
  • New Cone and Tweeter Materials:
  • Back mounted grille assembly magnets improve aesthetics and longevity of grille assembly.
